    PRESS RELEASE

    March 12, 2009

United Commemoration Committee to Host Symposium on Armenian Genocide
    Recognition

Los Angeles, CA - The Armenian National Committee - Western Region
(ANC-WR) is pleased to report that the Armenian Genocide United
Commemoration Committee is set to host an academic symposium to
address a spectrum of issues stemming from the Armenian Genocide.  The
event shall take place on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 9:30 am to
5:00 pm at St. Gregory Armenian Catholic Church's Kouyoumjian Hall
located at 1510 E. Mountain Street at Verdugo in Glendale, CA.

`As April approaches and the community works hard to educate the
public about the Armenian Genocide, this symposium will raise
awareness of the importance of ending the cycle of genocide,' stated
Andrew D. Kzirian, Executive Director of the ANC-WR. `With a lineup of
academics and experts, this event is the ideal forum to engage in
vigorous discussion regarding the Armenian Genocide, its effects on
the Armenian nation and the exploration of a just resolution of this
    crime,' he added.

The symposium will feature renowned scholars and leading voices on the
issue of genocide and will cover international reaffirmation, legal
ramifications, ongoing cultural destruction of Armenian monuments and
historical landmarks in Turkey and contemporary regional security
    issues.

The Armenian National Committee - Western Region is the largest and
most influential Armenian American grassroots advocacy organization in
the Western United States. Working in coordination with a network of
offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United States
and affiliated organizations around the country, the ANC-WR advances
the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of
    issues.
