Armenia's security chief did not resign - press secretary

    YEREVAN March 11

Chief of the Armenian National Security Service (NSS) Gorik Akopian
did not file a letter of resignation, NSS press secretary Artsvin
    Bagramian told Interfax on Wednesday.

"The information that the NSS chief filed a resignation letter is
    untrue," Bagramian said.

A number of Armenian media outlets reported earlier on Wednesday that
the NSS chief had resigned. The letter was written last Tuesday, but
    not signed yet, they said.

The resignation of the prime minister and several other government
members has been the subject of rumors in Armenia for several days
    now.

Last Tuesday Armenian president's press secretary Samvel Farmanian
told Interfax that the prime minister had not filed a letter of
    resignation.

"The information that the prime minister and his team filed
resignation letters is false and untrue," Farmanian said.

Later the Armenian government's press office also denied reports about
    the prime minister's resignation.
