ArmInfo. Eight winners of the All Armenian Econtent Competition will
participate in the World Summit Awards, is the global initiative
to select and promote the world's best e-Content and innovative ICT
applications, Head of the Information Technologies Fund of Armenia
    Garegin Chugaszyan told ArmInfo.

The contest of 2008 was conducted on December 25 according to the 8
    nominations prescribed by WSA: E-Study , E-Science, E-Healthcare,
    E-Culture, E-Entertainment, E-Business, E-Management and E-

organized the contest with the support of the Armenian Economy
    ministry, Governmental Information Technologies Development
Support Council (ITDSC), All Armenian Foundation Hayastan and Icon

of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute (www.genocide-museum.am),

educational portal of the Education Ministry (www.armedu.am),
information center of climate changes (www.nature- ic.am/ccarmenia)
and State Intellectual Property Agency (www.aipa.am). G. Chugasjyan
will participate in the work of the juries at the World Summit Awards
in India. Winners of nearly 20,000 projects will participate in the
awarding ceremony in June 2009 in Monterrey, Mexico.

The World Summit Award (WSA) is the global initiative to select and
promote the world's best e-Content and innovative ICT applications. WSA
was started in 2003 in the framework of the United Nations' World
Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) as a contribution of the
Austrian Government to the global effort to bridge the digital divide
    and close the content gap.

WSA activities include national contests and selections of best
practice, a global contest held every 2 years and content-focused
national and international conferences with exhibitions - the WSA Road
Show. In 2003, Armenia won the primer prize in "E- Science" nomination
in Geneva. The Head of The Cosmic Ray Division of the Yerevan Physics
Institute, Ashot Chiligaryan was honored with this prize. In 2005, in
Tunis, at the WSA, "Aram Khachaturyan: Life and Creative Work" CD/DVD
created by "ITE" company's "Multiweb" studio was recognized by the Main
Jury as the best cultural multimedia production of 2005. Another work
of this company was honored with special prize and found place in the
best ten works of "E-Study" nomination. This successful participation
in WSA, by no means, opened up great perspectives for Armenia.

WSA works to strengthen entrepreneurship within content industries and
to bring about economic and cultural development through the creative
use of ICTs. It supports the UN Millennium Development Goals of ending
poverty, hunger and disease, saving the environment and giving a fair
    share to women.

WSA is an invitation project and a global activity for all who share
the understanding of the crucial importance of excellent e-Content
creation within the information society. Partners in over 160 UN
member states are actively involved in WSA.
