YEREVAN, MARCH 23, ARMENPRESS: The cooperation with the Water Users'
Associations (WUA) must be on a high level, in the opposite case the
investments in the irrigation system infrastructures will not give
preferable results, Ara Hovsepyan, MCA-Armenia CEO, said today at the
presentation of "Institutional Strengthening component of Irrigation
Entities" program.
According to him, it is necessary to put the cooperation
of the companies on a right way applying new approaches,
technology. ""Institutional Strengthening component of Irrigation
Entities" is necessity today, we must support irrigation entities as
well as the development of their potential," A. Hovsepian said.
MCA-Armenia signed an agreement with "Euroconsult Mott Mac Donald"
company on the implementation of the Institutional Strengthening
component of Irrigation Entities Sub-Activity of the Millennium
Challenge Account-Armenia program. The program started from September
11 2008, the main works will be finished in September 2011.
Within the framework of the program it is expected to study and assess
the current policy of the republic's irrigation sphere, strategy,
legal field as well as to develop a bill on irrigation.
