    CONSUMER PRICE INDEX GREW BY 1 PER CENT OVER THE LAST YEAR IN ARMENIA

    Yervan, April 2, Noyan Tapan The Consumer Price Index in March 2009
    compared with December 2008 reached 100,7 per cent, including index of
    food goods (including alcoholic drinks and tobacco) reached 100,3 per
    cent, index of non-food goods - 101,4 per cent, and service tariffs -
    101 per cent.

    According to the data of the National Statistical Service, consumer
    price index reached 101 per cent in March 2009 compared with the same
    month last year, particularly, 97,3 per cent for food goods (including
    alcoholic drinks and tobacco), 100,5 per cent - for non-food goods
    and 108,5 per cent - for services. Over January-March compared with
    the same period of last year these indexes reached 102 per cent,
    99 per cent, 98,6 per cent and 109,6 per cent respectively. 1,8 per
    cent drop in prices on consumer market in February 2009 was followed
    by the 1,4 per cent rise. Over the mentioned period of time prices
    for food goods (including alcoholic drinks and tobacco) grew by 1 per
    cent, non-food goods - by 3,7 per cent, and services - by 1 per cent:
    Consumer price index reached 118,9 per cent in March 2009 compared
    with 2005, including for food goods (including alcoholic beverages
    and tobacco) reached 120,4 per cent, non-food goods - 106,7 per cent,
    services - 122,9 per cent.
