SERZH SARGSYAN MEETS STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENTS

President Serzh Sargsyan today met with the Student Council Presidents
of the higher educational establishments of the republic.
Greeting the young guests, the President stressed that the
Armenian authorities are interested in the development of Student
Councils. According to Serzh Sargsyan, during the study students do
not only have to make steps in the field of education and science. They
must be brought up as citizens of the future.
Nothing that young people face many problems today, Serzh Sargsyan
dwelt on some of them. "First, the youth should be always engaged
in the reinforcement of our independent statehood. We cannot have
a strong state without active youth, while the development of our
country is impossible without a strong state.
Second, the young people have to be the creators of new knowledge. We
need young scholars in all spheres ranging from Armenology to exact
sciences.
Third, our young people should be free citizens of a free country. He
who does not feel free, he cannot perform great deeds."
The President's speech was followed by a discussion and an exchange of
views on issues students are interested in. in particular, reference
was made to the process of educational reforms, social issues, the
military-patriotic education of the youth, etc. at the request of the
students, President Sargsyan spok e about the urgent political issues.
