On May 9 Armenians will mark the 17th anniversary of liberation
    of Shoushi.

"The most important factor in the liberation of Shoushi was the
fighting spirit. Believe that the guys were going towards death with
exultation," participant of the fight for the liberation of Shoushi,
representative of the Supreme Body of ARF Dashnaktsutyun Igor Sargsyan
    told a press conference today.

"Unfortunately, the patriotic spirit that existed in 1992 is fading
today. It does not mean, however, that we will stand aside in case
of danger. Our guys are always ready to take up weapons and defend
the liberated lands with blood," Igor Sargsyan said.

"We were preparing the liberation of Shoushi in March. But it was
probably, a predictive sign that the military actions were postponed
because of unfavorable weather conditions, and we started the operation
on May 8 by the order of Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan," Igor Sargsyan said.

"The Turks [Azeris] ran away in panic after hours of fierce fighting.

The Armenian side suffered 55 losses," liberation soldier Vrezh
Danielyan recalls. He was entrusted to control the road to Shoushi.

"Every Armenian should realize that by defending the border, he
defends his home and his children," Vrezh Danielyan said.

Vr ezh Danielyan added that concessions could be made if the lands were
occupied. "But we have liberated our lands, and the law of war says
that the land taken by blood should be returned by blood," he said.
