    BSEC-URTA OPENS 15TH MEETING IN YEREVAN

    YEREVAN, May 12. /ARKA/. Union of Road Transport Associations in the
    Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) region (BSEC-URTA) opened its
    15th meeting in Yerevan. Among the participants are representatives
    of Armenia, Russia, Bulgaria, Ukraine Turkey, Moldova, Albania,
    Romania and Georgia.

    RA Minister of Transport and Communications Gurgen Sargsyan made a
    welcoming speech at the opening. He made a high appraisal of Armenia's
    chairmanship of the organization.

    He reminded the participants of a meeting of the BSEC Ministers of
    Transport, which adopted a declaration on the construction of a black
    Sea ring road and simplified visa regime for professional drivers.

    "It is a happy fact that the Union is holding its meeting to implement
    the decisions," Sargsyan said.

    The Minister calls for paying attention to the construction of road
    infrastructure, unifying the road laws of the BSEC member-states.

    Armenia took over BSEC Chairmanship last November and chaired the
    organization until April 30, 2009.

    BSEC was founded in 1992, with Armenia being one of the founders. Among
    the BSEC permanent members are Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan,
    Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey
    and Ukraine. Among the observer countries are Austria, Belarus,
    Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Poland,
    Slovakia and USA.
