The moment of truth in the relationship between Armenia and its
neighbors, namely, the moment of awareness of their place in the region
is nearing, said political scientist Rasim Aghayev, commenting on
the statement of Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, expressing
concern about the negative impact of economic crisis in Russia in
    the Armenian economy.

"It is possible to say that Yerevan has provided good news recently. I
say this not because I am inclined to gloat over the deteriorating
social situation of the Armenian population, but only in view of
the fact that the situation gives us hope that the Armenian elite,
possibly under the influence of a strong crisis will finally, begin
to revise their ideological ideas, pushing them over the past hundred
years for expansion, for aggression against their neighbors", noted
    the political scientist.

At the same time he hoped to strengthen the positions of "the stratum
of the Armenian elite, who understand the primary law of the XXI
century, fixed in the formula of linkage and interconditionality
of world envisioning cooperation, mutual assistance in all parts of
    the world".

"I believe that officials in Armenia do not accidentally talk about
the deteriorating socio-economic situation, which was one of the
reasons why the Armenian ruling circles came into direct negotiations
with Turkey and expressed an inclination to a certain acquiescence",
    noted R. Agayev.

The political scientist believes that the ruling classes of Armenia
are concerned to a large extent not so much about the prospect of
the situation of the masses, but the threat to their sustainability.

"It is therefore important to encourage the political elite and
the masses to realize that the welfare of the Armenian people does
not lie in the misinterpreted national goals, whose content is the
annexion of some historical lands to Armenia, but the restoration
of good-neighborly relations, cooperation and creation of favorable
conditions, when Armenians could work together with other peoples
of the Caucasus, Turkey, the whole region, to establish atmosphere
of well-being and not the atmosphere of expansion and occupation",
    he said.

"The moment of truth in the relationship between Armenia and its
neighbors, namely, the moment of awareness of their place in the
    region is nearing", concluded Aghayev.
