    TEHRAN (FNA)- Outgoing ambassadors of Armenia and Portugal to Tehran
    met Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki to bid him farewell at the
    end of their tenures here on Tuesday.

    At the meeting with Karen Nazaryan, Mottaki called Iran-Armenia
    relations growing and in direction of national interests of both
    nations and appreciated the ambassador's efforts to promote bilateral
    ties.

    He said there are plenty of grounds for growing ties between the two
    countries and because of good existing understanding between the two
    nations, there is a good and bright future for bilateral ties.

    In another meeting, Mottaki received outgoing Portuguese Ambassador
    Jose Manuel da Costa Arsenio, the Islamic republic news agency
    reported.

    By referring to the old ties based upon mutual respect and friendship,
    Mottaki added there should be a plan for using existing potentials.

    The Armenian ambassador called Iran a country with old civilization and
    culture and said that he had learned a lot here and added development
    of cultural ties had also been part of his efforts.

    The Portuguese outgoing envoy called his tenure in Iran as the
    best period of his diplomatic life and said that Iranians are an
    intellectual and peaceful nation.
