    CHINA'S AMBASSADOR PRAISES RELATIONS WITH ARMENIA

    YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 2, ARMENPRESS: China's ambassador to Armenia, Zo
    Xiluan confirmed today that his government will provide Armenia this
    year with a 10 million Yuan worth humanitarian assistance. He said
    negotiations with Armenian officials are being held at the moment to
    choose the areas which need this aid.
    He said relations between Armenia and China, including also
    military cooperation are in a good state. Under an agreement that was
    reached during the visits of Armenian defense minister and chief of
    staff of the armed forces to China in 2001 and 2002 several Armenian
    cadets will fly to China to continue education at one China's
    military academies. Last year a senior Chinese foreign ministry
    official paid a visit to Armenia to exchange thoughts on a vide array
    of issues.
    The ambassador also praised economic ties with Armenia, saying
    they tend to gradually grow. The trade between China and Armenia in
    the first 11 months of 2004 amounted to $12.1 million, a 3.9 percent
    higher than the previous year. The ambassador said a joint
    Chinese-Armenian plant for production of synthetic rubber will be put
    into operation in 2006.
