    ARMENIA POSTS ONE OF THE LOWEST INFLATION RATE AMONG CIS COUNTRIES IN JAN.-JULY

    YEREVAN, September 3, /ARKA/. Armenia posted a 2.7% year-on-year
    inflation rate for the first seven months of the year among other CIS
    member countries. According to official figures of the CIS Statistical
    Committee, consumer prices in former Soviet republics rose on average
    by 12% in this period.

    It said also that consumer prices in Armenia fell by 2.7% in July
    against June.

    The lowest inflation rate in Jan.-July 2009 was reported by Moldova
    (0.9%), which was followed by Georgia (2.1%), Azerbaijan came in after
    Armenia with a 3.1%, Tajikistan was fifth with 8.2%, Kazakhstan's
    inflation rate was 8.2%.

    The highest rise of consume prices was in Ukraine (17.3%), Belarus
    (14.4%), Russia (12.9%), Kyrgyzstan (11%). No figures were available
    for Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
