YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 11, NOYAN TAPAN. Yerevan Brandy Company (YBC)
will start the purchase of grapes on September 16. The YBC CEO Ara
Grigorian said at the September 11 press conference that the company
plans to purchase 32 thouasnd tons of grapes this year, which will
exceed by 1,000 tons last year's index. The purchase price of 1 kg
of grapes was fixed at 130 drams at Armavir and Aygavan branches of
YBC and 120 drams in Tavush. The company will allocate a total of 4
billion drams (100.8 thousand USD) for the purchase of grapes.

According to A. Grigorian, the money will transfered to bank accounts
of about 5,000 partner-vine growers 3-7 days after the purchase.

As for future plans of the company, he said that they envisage putting
a new distillation department into operation at the Tavush branch in
October, for which YBC has invested 50 million drams. This will enable
to distil high quality spirits and develop viticulture in Tavush marz.
