ERZRUM TO BE TRANSIT CENTRE IF ARMENIAN-TURKISH BORDER OPENS

While Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is discussing new
developments in Armenian-Turkish relations with opposition parties,
the Turkish government is taking certain steps in that direction.
As well-informed sources from Istanbul informed Tert.am's
correspondent, Turkish authorities have begun active reconstructing
certain roads in the country's eastern area. According to these
sources, Turkey doesn't wish to make Kars a transit centre in
the case of an open border; rather, it is placing its "stakes" in
Erzrum. According to him, Erzrum's infrastructures are presently
being improved and it is Ezrum, rather than Kars, which will be the
new transit centre in the event that the Turkish-Armenian border opens.
