STEPAN SAFARYAN: PRESIDENTIAL MEETINGS WITH ARMENIAN DIASPORA WILL CARRY IMITATIONAL NATURE

threatens international recognition of Armenian Genocide, it also
poses risks where Armenian Diaspora's financial and political support
is concerned," Heritage Parliamentary Faction Leader Stepan Safaryan
told a news conference.
According to Safayan, Diaspora is Armenia's only strategic
ally. "Should we not reckon with Diaspora while signing RA-Turkish
protocols, we'll be unable to turn to it in future," Heritage
representative said.
Stepan Safaryan characterized RA President's pan-Armenian tour as a
belated step.
"Presidential meetings with Armenian Diaspora will carry imitational
nature. We're aware of Diaspora's negative attitude towards RA-Turkish
rapprochement, so meetings with RA president will mostly be attended
by those ready to support him," Safaryan concluded.
