ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER: AZERBAIJAN'S REFUSAL TO COOPERATE MAY ENDANGER EASTERN PARTNERSHIP PROJECT

ArmInfo. Azerbaijan's refusal to cooperate as suggested by the
EU Eastern Partnership Project (EPP) may endanger successful
implementation of the given project, Edward Nalbandian, Foreign
Minister of Armenia, said during the first Eastern Partnership Project
Ministerial Meeting in Brussels on Tuesday.

Armenian Foreign Ministry press-service reported the minister as
highlighting at the meeting that such behavior of a EU partner-state is
discrediting the ideology of cooperation. He said that the other EPP
signatory-states have not responded to this fact yet which even more
devaluates the project. The EPP foreign ministers in their speeches
highlighted importance of cooperation between the EPP member-states
and necessity of specific measures in this dimension.

The EU outlined the work carried out by the EU expert group in Armenia
as a successful example of cooperation contributing to reforms in
the legislative, executive and judicial spheres.

The EPP Foreign Ministers resolved to meet next time in the second half
of 2010. The next Eastern Partnership Summit is scheduled for 2011.
