    YEREVAN

YEREVAN, December 16, /ARKA/. Armenian vice prime minister Armen
Gevorkian, who is also territorial administration minister, met with
director general of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID)
Jazir Al Kherbish in Vienna, Austria, to discuss issues relating to
a new investment agricultural project in Armenia.

The press service of the territorial ministry told ARKA that this
project is planned to be implemented with co-financing of OFID and
the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). During
the meeting Armen Gevorkian spoke about his talks in Rome with IFAD
representatives, saying that a basic agreement was reached on the
date of the project and its co-financing by both organizations. OFID
is expected to approve this new project in March

Gagik Matevosian, director of Rural Development Program of the Armenian
agricultural ministry was also present at the Vienna meeting.

Armenia and OFID began cooperation in 2004. Four projects have
been successfully implemented since then, designed to connect rural
communities to the natural gas network. OFID has invested so far $30
million in Armenia. Currently Armenia and OFID negotiate release of
    another $20 million aid.
