ARMENIAN-TURKISH PROTOCOLS PROCESS HAS COME TO AN END FOR ALL EXCEPT ARMENIA'S LEADERSHIP: SHAHNAZARYAN

Armenian National Congress (ANC) spokesperson Davit Shahnazaryan,
speaking with journalists today and referring to Armenian-Turkish
relations and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said
that these issues have been and remain bundled together. "That which
the governing leaders, it seems, are already beginning to understand,
or perhaps they understood a long time ago but pretended that they
didn't understand... any talk whatsoever about achievement here
is superfluous, there are losses. There is a consequential and
ongoing retreat in this process. I think that, in the near future,
the OSCE Minsk Group's activities will accelerate and the fact that
the co-chairs visited Baku in December, but didn't come to Yerevan,
is simply additional proof that they don't have issues with Armenia's
ruling leadership, the issues are in Baku, and perhaps among mediator
    countries," said Shahnazaryan.

In his words, it's possible to blame Turkey in all of this, except for
one issue: until the signing of the Protocols, they stated numerously
that without serious progress in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabkh
issue, the border won't be opened.

Shahnazaryan is confident that the U.S. won't recognize the Armenian
Genocide. "The United States would never take such a risk, to have in
this region a second state, apart from Iran, who holds anti-American
sentiments. This is the next unfounded propaganda organized by
    Armenia's governing leaders."

"This entire process connected with the Armenian-Turkish Protocols
has come to an end for everyone except for Armenia's leaders, who
are currently contemplating how to withdraw from the difficult and
absurd situation that they created. To tell you the truth, I even doubt
that they will have sufficient political independence, that they will
be able to take any steps [forward]: they are extremely constrained
by outside forces," added Shahnazaryan, who doesn't have any doubt
that Armenian-Turkish relations will be established, but not based
on these Protocols, and not while this government is in power.
