ArmInfo. On January 30, Russian and Turkish presidents Dmitry Medvedev
and Abdulla Gul had a phone talk, initiated by the Turkish party.

As the official web site of the Kremlin reported, the Russia-Turkey
cooperation was basically in the focus of attention during the
phone conversation. While exchanging views on situation in the
Caucasus, Turkish President Abdullah Gul highly appreciated Russia's
contributions to the international efforts to achieve progress
in solution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The parties expressed
satisfaction with the joint works carried out in the Black Sea region
and touched upon the security issues in Europe as well as Russia's
initiatives on drawing up a contract on security in Europe.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is expected to pay an official
visit to Turkey in May of the current year.

At the same time, according to the diplomatic sources of the Turkish
Hurriyet Daily News, Gul expressed anxiety in connection of the
decision of the Armenian Constitutional Court, which, as he said,
contains pre-conditions and the limiting points. Gul called on Medvedev
to play 'more active part' during the talks in Yerevan. 'We hope nobody
wants to risk the future of the Protocols. Everybody wish peace and
stability on the Caucasus', - Gul said. For his part, the Russian
leader said that Russia highly appreciates the efforts of Turkey on
peace establishment in the region. 'We have close contact with Armenia
as well as Azerbaijan. Nobody has a right to fail the Protocols', -
Dmitriy Medvedev said and promised that Moscow will continue having
close relations with Yerevan and making efforts for normalization of
    the Armenian-Turkish relations.
