A. SAFARYAN- NEWLY-ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF RA NA STANDING COMMITTEE ON HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENSE AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 24, ARMENPRESS: Aram Safaryan, secretary of
"Prosperous Armenia" faction, was selected the chairman of RA NA
standing committee on Human Rights Defense and Public Affairs. The
post was vacant since Mkhitar Mnatsakanyan, parliamentarian from
"Prosperous Armenia", was appointed RA Minister of Labor and Social
Affairs. About 84 parliamentarians participated in the election of
the committee chairman, 82 of them voted for Aram Safaryan's candidacy.
Mr. Safaryan told journalists that as the committee chairman he will
have no intentions to start competing with RA Ombudsman's office. He
assured the committee will have active cooperation with Ombudsman's
office with a vision of completing each other. "This cooperation will
lead to improvement in legislation on the sphere," the newly-elected
chairman of RA NA standing committee on Human Rights Defense and
Public Affairs said.
