YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) ` Former Eastern Michigan University
women's basketball standout Kris Kachaturoff has accepted an
invitation to tryout for Armenia's National Team, the Basketball
Federation of Armenia announced today, April 14. Kachaturoff leaves
for May 15 for the former republic of the Soviet Union in hopes of
earning a spot on the team for the FIBA European Division C
    Championships, June 28-July 3.

Kachaturoff earned three letters for the Eagles from 1999-2002 after
transferring from Hillsdale College prior to the 1998-99 campaign. She
finished her collegiate career ranked 36th on EMU's career scoring
chart, while having played 78 games for the Green and White.

This marks the first time Armenia has invited players from outside of
the country to tryout for the squad. Candidates with Armenian
bloodlines are coming from Iran, Lebanon, Russia, Syria and the United
    States for the tryout.

Kachaturoff scored a career high of 25 points against Kent State
University in the dramatic 2000 Mid-American Conference Tournament
    Semifinals, earning All-Tournament honors.

As a senior co-captain, she averaged nine points and three rebounds a
game in conference play and was instrumental in the Eagles'
    resurgence, including a season-high 19 points in a come-from-behind
win over Ball State University and 18 points in the a home win over
    the University of Toledo.

During her time in Ypsilanti, the women's basketball team recorded
four consecutive winning seasons for the first time in school
history. Additionally, the Eagles set the then-record for most wins in
a four-year period with 62 victories. The Eagles also won nine
conference games in back-to-back seasons to tie the then-school
    record.

Prior to coming to EMU, Kachaturoff was a three-year varsity
letterwinner at Dearborn High School. She was a three-time All-City,
All-L sophomore season. Kachaturoff averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds a
game during her senior season en route to earning first-team Class A
All-State honors. In addition to basketball, she was a three-year
varsity letterwinner in golf, where she was a three-time Team MVP.
