    PRESS RELEASE

Armenian Diaspora Ministry and AGBU Sponsor Packed Theatre Productions
    in Yerevan

"Forty Days of Musa Dagh" draws thousands around 95th Genocide
    anniversary

Over 4,000 people attended performances of two plays about the Armenian
Genocide at the Gabriel Sundukian State Academic Theater in Yerevan on
April 21 - 27, sponsored by the Republic of Armenia's Diaspora Ministry
and AGBU. Franz Werfel's "Forty Days of Musa Dagh," an epic in two
parts, was produced by Armen Elbakian. The second piece was Perch
Zeituntsian's "Votki, Datarann e galis" (All Rise, The Court's in
Session), which dramatizes the 1921 Berlin trial of Solomon Tehlirian.
The spectacles were part of a program devoted to the 95th anniversary of
    the Armenian Genocide

AGBU Yerevan scout troops held a vigil in memory of the Genocide victims
before the presentation of "Forty Days of Musa Dagh" on April 23, giving
audience members the occasion to light candles in the theater lobby.

Among the attendees were First Lady Rita Sargsyan, Diaspora Minister
Heranush Hakobian, Armenia's Human Rights ombudsman Armen Harutyunian,
the heads of various diplomatic missions, representatives of leading
NGOs, intellectuals, students, AGBU Armenia members, AGBU Yerevan Young
Professionals, AGBU Scouts, AGBU Youth Center children and teachers,
students at the Monte Melkonian military college, and Armenians of Musa
    Dagh descent.

The performances drew a large number of young people. Armenians could
also view the productions at home, thanks to coverage by two major
television networks: Armenia TV and Shant TV.

Established in 1906, AGBU (www.agbu.org) is the world's largest
