EDWARD NALBANDIAN: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO RESOLVE CONFLICT, OFFERING ITS REASON AS SETTLEMENT MECHANISM

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said that use of force
or threat of its use should not be exploited as a trump card. "The
Azerbaijani authorities' bellicose statements and disseminating
ethnic hatred rhetoric not only violate the international law, but
also contradict the promises of Azerbaijan about its intention to
secure prosperity of the Karabakh people," Mr. Nalbandian said at
Carleton University, Ottawa.

"It is impossible to resolve a conflict, offering its reason as a
settlement mechanism," the Foreign Minister noted in his comments on
outlooks for the Karabakh conflict resolution.

According to him, Azerbaijan hopes that its waving flag over
Stepanakert will symbolize the conflict resolution. "In reality,
Stalin's forcible imposing of the Azerbaijani flag to Artsakh in
1921 became the reason for the further Karabakh conflict," stressed
Nalbandyan, the RA MFA press service reported.
