REPUBLICANS WILL HAVE TO VOTE FOR RE-OPENING OF FOREIGN-LANGUAGE SCHOOLS: CONFESSION'S CONFESSION

    Tert.am
    18.06.10

Member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia and Head of the
Standing Committee on Social Affairs of the National Assembly of
Armenia Hakob Hacobyan made a remarkable confession as he spoke about
the Government-backed bill that will allow re-opening foreign-language
schools in Armenia if adopted by the parliament.

Hacobyan, in fact, did not deny that the Party will be obliged to
vote in favor of the initiative.

"If the bill has been proposed by the Republican Party [of Armenia],
by the government, then the National Assembly must vote in favor of
that bill. How else could you imagine?" said Hakobyan.

"I cannot speak about schools now, but I can clearly say that the
society, the state, the citizens must fight for education," said he
adding that we must not combat for obtaining knowledge.

"Who is against foreign languages? All want to know their native
language and learn foreign ones. That is the case in all over the
world: few are the poor in a society that has knowledge," concluded
    Hakobyan.
