YSU CHAIR OF DIASPORA STUDIES HAS 11 STUDENTS

    ARMENPRESS
    YEREVAN
    OCTOBER 20, 2010

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 20, ARMENPRESS: The Chair of Diaspora Studies opened
at Yerevan State University on the initiative of the Armenian Diaspora
Ministry has 11 students this year. Yura Avetisyan, head of the YSU
Chair of Diaspora Studies, told Armenpress that last year there were
so many students, which is quite a good index for a newly-opened
    master's degree.

"Though the chair was set up last year, nevertheless, there is great
interest among students. Here Armenia-Diaspora up-to-date relations
are thoroughly studied and specialists and scientists specialized in
Diaspora Studies are prepared. Only a master's degree works currently
at the Chair. According to Mr. Avetisyan, the chair has already
received two applications for extending a place for postgraduate
    studentship.

"Our expectations are big - we want to become an all-Armenian center,"
Yura Avetisyan said, adding that they have a number of programs on
cooperation with different Diaspora organizations and centers.

Every academic year the tuition fees of the 6 best students are
transferred by the Armenian Diaspora Misnitry.
