    IRANIAN DELEGATION VISITS MEGHRI BORDER CHECK-POINT

    YEREVAN

    YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS: At the invitation of the Armenian
    State Revenue Committee delegation led by the head of the Iranian
    Customs Service Ardeshir Mohammadi is in Armenia.

    Press service of the committee reported that the visit of the Iranian
    delegation was organized within the framework of the Comprehensive
    Border Management Program that launched in Armenia in the beginning of
    the year. The program intends various events for reinforcing bilateral
    border cooperation as well as increase of efficiency of work of the
    customs services.

    Members of the delegation first had an official meeting with
    the leadership of the State Revenue Committee, afterwards signed
    bilateral cooperation documents, including an agreement on exchange of
    information, and then left for the Armenian-Iranian border - Meghri
    customs point to get acquainted with the reforms intended within the
    framework of the program on site.

    "In respect of cooperation on customs issue Iran is Armenia's active
    partner. During the visit of the RA prime minister to Tehran this year
    issues on making reforms in the Armenian-Iranian border check-point
    were discussed and the Iranian side was suggested to visit Armenia,"
    head of tax payers service and taxing department of the committee
    Karen Beglaryan said.

    Within the framework of the complex management of borders works have
    already launched on the Armenian-Georgian border check-points. The next
    step will be the reforms of the Armenian-Iranian border check-point.
