Hraparak: Hrayr Tovmasyan may be appointed justice minister

    12:27 - 16.12.10

The newspaper says it has learnt from "well-informed sources" that
President Serzh Sargsyan met yesterday with Chairman of the
Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunyan and National Assembly speaker
Hovik Abrahamyan to propose the candidacy of lawyer Hrayr Tovmasyan
for the post of justice minister. The president's proposal received a
    unanimous approval, says the paper.

Earlier, other well-known figures were reportedly proposed for this
position. Among the possible candidates were presidential advisor
Gevorg Kostanyan, Chairman of the Public Council's legal committee
Grigor Baghiryan, and the chairman of the National Assembly's
Committee on State and Legal Affairs, David Harutyunyan, the paper
    says.

Hrayr Tovmasyan, 40, is a professional lawyer enjoying a high
reputation, the paper says. He has previously worked with various
international organizations and co-authored several draft laws.
