    THE USA: PERVERTING 'FREEDOM'

    Azarbaycan (Azerbaijani official newspaper)
    Dec 30, 2010

"Qui non est nobiscum, adversus nos est""You are with us or against us"

Events of the recent decade have distinctly shown that the USA
regularly "produces" information for the purpose of political
blackmail. The years of rule of the two latest administrations,
marked by illegal invasion of Iraq, refusal from the ratification
of the Kyoto protocols on climate changes, tortures of prisoners
in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo, the invasion of Afghanistan with the
subsequent growth of drugs production in this country, and, finally,
the shamelessness of financiers from the Wall Street that provoked
worldwide economic crisis, have deprived the USA of the right to
moral and political leadership across the world.

The professed attempt of the USA to build a "society of world
democracy" in its own image was not crowned with success because of
discrepancy of the "exported product" with the declared values. It
is important to remember that the major part of the international
community has not accepted the idea imposed on it about the ability
of the "American" democracy to be an example for the whole remaining
world. Even supporters of the USA called into question the right
of the USA to impose on others own opinion, calling in question the
    "American" values.

The USA remains the leader for the use of such "democratic cudgels"
as Radio Liberty, Amnesty International, Freedom House, Human Rights
Watch and Transparency International, financed at the expense
of "philanthropist" George Soros, the US Congress and the State
Department. Reports of these organizations list all countries, but
the main villains are geopolitical opponents of the USA and their
friends.... [Ellipses as published] The human rights situation of those
who have dared "not to lie down" under Washington is worsening year
by year. Very few people know that the information of Radio Liberty
was under a ban in the USA for a long time in 1950-1970s in view
of presence of a considerable number of openly false publications,
due to their possible negative influence on public opinion. Despite
to removal of legal bans, now the information field of the USA is
    not under less rigid control.

Even at the very beginning of the cold war (end of 1940s), the CIA
kicked off the operation codenamed Mockingbird for the purpose
of influencing largest media outlets and recruitment of leading
journalists. This operation had successful development. The list of the
recruited media structures included ABC, NBC, CBS TV channels; printing
media and news agencies as The Times, Newsweek, The Associated Press,
UPI, Reuters, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times and others as
well as 400 journalists who carried out confidential tasks of the CIA.

Those journalists, who broke a private "vow of silence", were
not forgiven by the special services. Stephen Kangas - an informed
journalist who devoted some exposing materials to the CIA, was found
shot dead. Another victim of the system was journalist Ralph McGeehee,
an agent of the CIA for 25 years, was cruelly beaten in 2000, after he
published a book entitled "Vietnamese Phoenix Program" related to the
CIA. It is obvious that like the Soviet idea of the "world proletarian
revolution", "the American liberalism" is not a global theory, more
likely, a "crusade" theory; after all, the global strategy of the
United States, on the basis of which lies liberal ideas, acts "not
as a strategy of peace but a strategy of conflict". The liberalism,
covered with the armour of the US 6th fleet, feeds imperial ambitions
of the United States because of intolerance of the political philosophy
of the American liberalism for other political ideologies.

Thus, the USA has obviously overdone with the methods exploited in
its aspiration for the creation of a "global liberal empire". By
creating countries "similar to America", the USA actually does it
without special theorization - "uniting" the world around by force,
freely interpreted by them democratic values. However, replacing
authorities in countries far away for thousands of kilometers from
the USA, Americans leave a trail casting a shade on the so-called
    lofty American ideals.

    "He's a son-of-a-bitch, but he's our son-of-a-bitch..."President F. D.
    Roosevelt about Nicaraguan dictator Somoza

It is appropriate to remember here the invasion of Iraq by Americans
with the subsequent overthrow of the president and the destruction
of the statehood, during which the charges on presence of weapons of
mass destruction in this country proved to be groundless and falsified.

Continuing the business, kicked off by his father, [George] Bush Jr.

changed the geopolitical balance of forces by destabilizing the
situation in the Middle East. The game of life and death has become an
entertainment for American soldiers, similar to a "game of roulette" -
a hobby of American presidents. Here it is also possible to remind mass
executions of civilians in Iraq and the murder by American soldiers of
Reuters reporters. Not less shameful for "the citadel of human rights"
in the person of the USA were tortures in Abu Ghraib prison. In April
2004, CBS' 60 Minutes broadcast a video of humiliation of prisoners at
the prison. The American soldiers tortured them, rode horses on them,
forced to bark as dogs, to catch meal from toilets and raped them.

Pictures showing tortures were published by the New York Times
some days after CBS broadcast them. Later pictures of tortures in
American military bases in Afghanistan and Iraq were forbidden for the
publication by the US government on the basis of the amendment to the
law on freedom of information which outlaws the publication if it can
threaten someone's life or security (in this case, it was allegedly
for the security of the American soldiers-rapists in Afghanistan and
    Iraq - editorial office).

For own interests, the US government can easily apply any censorship,
essentially limiting the freedom of speech. As a result, 12 troops
were convicted of the case, among whom there was not a single
high-ranking Pentagon serviceman. Since 2004, for six years of war
in Iraq, over 100,000 people were murdered, of whom more than 66,000
were civilians. Thus, every day of the war in Iraq takes away lives
of 31 civilians. Similar actions of the American soldiers were also
fixed during the war for the celebration of "democratic ideals" in
Afghanistan. British Guardian reports that US armed forces practiced
in Bagram - the main prison near Kabul and Kandahar - tortures in
the style of the Abu Ghraib prison. During tortures, their hands
were twisted, an uncharged pistol was thrust in their mouths and the
trigger was pulled. Thus, American soldiers tightened a rope on a
neck so that a prisoner fainted, then they simply finished him with
a baseball bat. Dogs were set on prisoners, beaten, bones broken and
raped improperly. Cruel and ruthless "planting" of democratic values
by the USA has an old history originating from mid XX century.

In 1953 the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) deposed
democratically-elected [prime minister of Iran from 1951 to 1953]
Mohammad Mossadeq in a coup, having replaced him with dictator Mohammed
Reza Pahlavi, only for the reason that Mohammad Mossadeq aspired
to nationalize the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. Similar events also
took place in Guatemala where the CIA toppled democratically-elected
president Jacobo Arbenz Guzman for his intention to nationalize the
United Fruit Company, owned by Rockefeller, a shareholder of which
was also the director of the CIA, Allen Dulles (Operation codenamed
Devil). As a result, Arbenz was replaced by a chain of "rightist"
dictators, who destroyed over 100,000 Guatemalans for the next
    40 years.

Now the plot thickens. From 1957 to 1973, the CIA carried out
practically one coup per year at a time, trying to bring results
of democratic elections in Laos to nothing. For the purpose of
implementing plans, at first, the CIA forms a so-called "army of
secret Asian mercenaries"; however, after a number of failures,
the USA began bombardments, dropping more bombs on Laos than it was
dropped by Americans during the whole Second World War. In 1964, the
CIA deposed the democratically-elected government of Joao Goulart in
a military coup in Brazil. The junta, which replaced him, became one
of the most blood-thirsty regimes in the history - General Castelo
Branco set up the first "death squadrons" in Latin America, the main
objective of which was detention of political opponents, torturing
    and eliminating them physically.

The CIA-plotted coup in Indonesia in 1965 was of larger consequences,
during which democratic ruler Sukarno was overthrown. The "hunter
of communist" - Gen Suharto, who replaced him, drowned in blood
under different calculations 500,000 to 1m civilians. As another
example of the "export of democracy" in an American style, one
can cite the classical coup of 1973 in Chile, during which the
democratically-elected socialist leader Salvador Allende was murdered.

Problems between Allende and the USA begun from the moment when
Allende decided to nationalize the companies owned by Americans. As a
result, the CIA replaced Allende with a person "in a white uniform,
but with black soul" - Gen Augusto Pinochet, whose image became a
synonym of "dictatorship" for many long years. Subsequently, the
US authorities did not raise a finger to rescue own protege from a
    criminal prosecution.

Similar consequences had a coup in Cambodia where as a result of the
overthrow by the CIA in 1970 of Prince Sihanouk, the puppet government
of Lon Nol came to power, providing an advent to power of the puppet
Khmer Rouge government with unpopular actions in 1975 by Pol Pot,
who destroyed millions of own citizens.

The "export" of democracy under the CIA recipes was also realized in
Bolivia, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Zaire, Honduras, Panama and
El Salvador. A special attention deserves the operation in El Salvador,
in El Mozote from 1980 to 1992, where the military government with the
support of the CIA in special concentration camps, today's "auschwitz",
murdered about 63,000 citizens of own country.

In 1983, the CIA transferred "Guidance on the exploitation of human
resources" to the Honduras military authorities, being as a matter of
fact, a textbook on tortures. Later notorious Battalion 316 used the
given guide and tortured thousands of "leftist" dissidents. By 1980s
of last century, the technology of "exporting liberal values" entered
an absolutely new stage. So, as an example, it is possible to cite a
secret operation codenamed Cyclone, per se, a long-term programme to
finance, arm and train Afghan mujahedeen during the Soviet invasion
of Afghanistan in 1979-1989. The programme provided comprehensive
support for the Islamic groups linked to neighbouring Pakistan. It
was one of the longest secret operations of the CIA outside the USA,
of which the budget in the first years amounted to over 30m dollars,
reaching 630m dollars by 1987. Within the limits of the programme,
a whole generation of the Afghan field commanders, as Jeladine Hakani
and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, were trained. The first bore responsibility
for training volunteers from Saudi Arabia among whom was also notorious
    Osama Bin Laden.

However, at times, the similar fate also overtook proteges of the CIA.

So was the case with General Manuel Noriega, who led Panama since 60s
and got wages from the CIA. Since 1972, with a tacit consent of the
CIA, Noriega was engaged in drug trafficking, and only his growing
independence led to his overthrow by Washington in 1989. American and
foreign journalists as well as publicists, who tried to expose outrages
of the American punitive machine, were subjected to censorship,
humiliations, tortures and murders. Examples of similar ritual cruelty,
hypocrisy and cynicism in the history of the XX century are in great
number on the easy tip from the USA.

    Bastille of the Caribbean Sea

The vivid symbol of the USA's "double standards" became a prison on the
naval base in the Bay of Guantanamo. The prison emerged in January 2002
when the first 20 people from Afghanistan, accused of involvement in
operations on the side of Talibans, were delivered. Later hundreds of
people from Saudi Arabia, Yemen and even Uighur separatists, whom the
US refuses to transfer to the Peoples Republic of China, were placed
there. Many prisoners in Guantanamo are being kept without official
charges. In Guantanamo, prisoners are tortured, including a form of
simulated drowning, electric shock, physical tortures authorized by
the government and the US president. The Pentagon declared that it
is impossible to consider such a treatment brutal.

The USA also considers possible to execute prisoners who pleaded
guilty under tortures. Up until today, the USA doesn't recognize the
statute of the International Criminal Court. Thus, any US military
can humiliate, beat, torture and murder any person in any spot of the
globe with impunity. On 21 January 2009, on the second day of his
tenure, US President Barack Obama signed the decree on disbandment
of the prison. The camp should have been closed within a year. Courts
at the base were suspended for 120 days. However, the decision of the
president was not executed; the prison continues and will continue to
function. The contemporary policy of the USA was neatly characterized
by Zbigniew Brzezinski: "If earlier the Statue of Liberty was a symbol
of the United States, now it is the prison of Guantanamo".

US politicians were under an illusion of the possibility of
reconstructing all world countries in the image and likeness of the
American political system, thus, without even shunning notorious
methods of such "perestroika" as listed above. Time has shown that
the task was far from the reality.

    In gold we trust!

A major disputed issue of the current international relations remains
to be the issue whether or not "the world's liberal empire" with the
centre in the person of the USA is capable to lead to harmonization
interests of the world countries instead of forceful imposing of
interests of stronger members on weaker ones? In order to answer
this question, it is necessary to analyze prospects and the so-called
viability of the architecture of the world order on the American model
as well as the internal architecture of the political and economic
    system of the USA.

Speaking about the internal architecture of the economic and political
system of the USA, it is necessary to note that exactly the decline
of these systems caused the world financial crisis with processes
starting from offices on the Wall Street. Using remorselessly gaps
in the legislation generated by errors of neo-liberalism, financiers
from the Wall Street have actually put the world economy on the edge
of a precipice. The imprudent inflation of the speculative market of
derivatives led to the crash of largest investment banks entailing
also bankruptcies in real sectors of economy. The mode of life of
the American "consumer society", which exists on credit and carries
out a role of the planet's "black hole", absorbing all successively,
has actually deprived America of its economic security.

The USA, where the lowest level of savings norms are observed along
with very large trade and the budget deficit, cannot survive today
without support of foreign countries forced to buy up US state bonds.

At present powerful states, such as China, possess the American
government bonds to the tune of 3bn dollars, thus sponsoring the
deficit of the American budget. No doubt the American economy
will still for a long time be the largest world economy, but the
gap between China and the other growing countries, such as the EU
countries, BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China), Arab countries and
Turkey, ASEAN (South East Asia) together with Japan and South Korea,
will undoubtedly decrease, reducing the role of America as the world's
    predominant force.

As to the US political system, in spite of all attractiveness of
key principles of the American internal political system "checks and
balances" based on the division of the three branches of power; this
system has a number of essential defects, on the one hand, casting a
shade on the viability of the American model of the internal political
structure, on the other hand, - calling into question the validity
of American claims for justice and lofty morals of the American model.

    Money talks

Lobbyism - an institution of a political system representing a process
for advancement of interests of individuals, corporate structures (and
also representing professional lobby firms and public organizations)
in government bodies for the purpose of achieving the acceptance
of political decisions favourable to them. Over the recent decades,
lobbyism as a legalized form of political corruption has turned into an
integral attributes of adopting all political decisions in all three
branches of power. In the United States, as a result of activities
of various lobby groups, the Senate constantly adopts politically
motivated decisions, contradicting national interests of the USA,
and at times, running counter to norms of usual human morals.

Scandals around congressmen, senators and governors have ceased
to be something uncommon for a long time, becoming one of the most
popular topics of Hollywood films. For example, an incident with the
governor of Illinois, who was arrested in December 2008 on suspicion
of corruption, became one of the most notorious. Rod Blagojevich,
being the governor, conspired for the sale of President Barack Obama's
vacant Senate seat. Congressman Democrat John Murtha was also involved
in a corruption scandal. Congressman Murtha, abusing his official
position in the House Appropriations Committee of the US Congress,
"cared" that money got into accounts of the companies connected with
him. So, MountainTop Technologies Inc. received 10m dollars with
    Kuchera Industries Inc. 9m dollars.

Congressman Democrat Norm Dicks, responsible for expenses on
environment, sharply increased financing of the programme which could
bring benefit to his son. Dicks was the chairman of the subcommittee
on assignments of the House of Representatives on internal affairs,
environment and organizations connected with it. He tried to have
increased financing for the project, which under his offer should
have received in 2010 half as much more than in 2009. Dicks offered
substantial growth in financing (by 5m dollars) programmes for water
treatment in Washington DC, which was run by his son.

Democrat from Wisconsin David Obey, the chairman of the House
Appropriations Committee, pushed a provision on expenses to the tune
of 2bn dollars in the law on national parks for arrangement of the
US national parks at a time when his son was the main lobbyist of
the National Parks Conservation Association. US Representative Maxine
Waters (Democrat) was accused of an attempt to influence high-ranking
officials responsible for the regulation of the financial market.

Congresswoman Waters stood up for steering 50m-dollar to OneUnited
bank, one of the largest banks of country, in which her husband was
a member of the Board of Directors, and a major shareholder.

In autumn 2009 America found out how over 30 congressmen and employees
of their offices earned their millions. The head of a subcommittee
John Murtha of Pennsylvania and a number of his party fellows:
    Norm Dicks from Washington DC; Rep Peter Visclosky from Indiana;
Jim Moran from Virginia and others fell under suspicion. In total -
almost a half of members of the subcommittee.

All of them in concert over the last two years promoted the allocation
of over 200m dollars on contracts with those companies, which were
clients of the PMA Group lobby office, specializing on laws in
defence sector. In response, this company made generous donations to
the electoral headquarters of legislators. For example, 77-year-old
Murtha received 2.37m dollars during the 2002, 2004 and 2006 election
campaign periods. Moreover, Visclosky and Moran got 1m dollars each in
2007 and in 2008. Then, the FBI became interested in the activities
of the lobby firm. The lobby company stopped existence in May 2008
after spot checks of the law enforcement bodies and quarrels between
its founders. But the trial is still under way.

Ethical investigations in the US Congress are not a rarity, but
they are always conducted strictly confidentially. The committee
on ethics - one of the most secret structures on the Capitol Hill:
its members and employees give a subscription about non-disclosure of
any data concerning current or past cases. More often a congressman,
convicted of unethical behaviour, is sent a letter with expressions
of disapproval, in rare occurrences, something like a reprimand
    can follow.

The scandal over latest presidential elections in the USA became
even more resonant. FBI branches in several American states kicked
off an investigation into the activities of a major non-commercial
organization ACORN. Employees of ACORN (Association of Community
Organizations for Reform Now) were suspected of falsifications in
filling official registration lists of voters. The management of
ACORN resorted to falsifications while registering voters sympathizing
democrats. Lists were made of the persons representing needy families
and traditionally voting for democrats. Thus, possible claims from
voters later came to naught. Obama's campaign was connected with this
organization, which was paid 800,000 dollars for the registration
    of voters.

It is noteworthy that after the first hearing on the case, Chairman of
the House Committee on the Judiciary John Conyers Jr. under pressure
receded from plans of conducting an investigation. At present, at
least 14 lawsuits related to fraudulence in the 2008 election have
been brought against ACORN and its affiliated companies. It would not
be out of place to remind that one of the major donors of ACORN is
"philanthropist" and a fan of "orange revolutions" George Soros. As
a whole, it is necessary to note that corruption and swindling
among officials in the USA are an everyday occurrence. The Times
newspaper reports that American officials take bribes estimated at
millions of dollars. According to the same newspaper, the special
auditing committee (SIGIR) is conducting an investigation into 110
fraudulence cases. The investigation, proving that over dozens of
weapons procurement representatives for the US army, took kickbacks
    for Pentagon contracts.

Such is "prospering" America of "exemplary democracy"MICHELLE, MA
BELLE...(Michel, my girl... Words of a song of the Beatles)

Obama's family also became a target of criticism for the waste of
budget funds. The trip of America's First Lady Michelle Obama with
daughter Sasha for a rest to Spain caused criticism by some American
media, which came to a conclusion that this vacation turned out to be
too expensive. The spouse of US President Barack Obama spent several
days in a luxurious hotel in the Spanish resort city of Marbella. In
total, "the Spanish vacation" cost 375,000 dollars to the American
    tax payers.

Planting cabbage and lettuce demonstratively on the backyard of the
White House during the crisis period, Michelle Obama doesn't shun on
luxurious rest in the best apartments of the Spanish Mediterranean.

Moreover, from July to September 2010, the Obama family had a rest
for five times for money of the American tax payers in luxurious and
best American resort of Martha's Vineyard, where a private 28-acre
residence with an ocean view was rented. A week's cost of stay in
this private residence is 50,000 dollars.

    And the king is naked!

Hypocrisy and immoral behaviour of the USA in relation to other
countries sounds in unison with behaviour of representatives of its
political elite. Respectable, grey-haired aged men with a clever
appearance teaching the planet of morals and principles of just
life, frequently become an embodiment of vicious and insatiable
human nature. The official permission to involve representatives of
nonconventional sexual orientation to service in the US army in Iraq
and Afghanistan is a display of the historical vice which has taken
roots in the political elite of the country.

So, well-known congressmen Mark Foley, Wayne Hans, Bob Livingston,
Gary Condit, Wilbur Mills, Gerry Studds, Dan Crane, Jon Hinson,
Ken Calvert, Don Sherwood, Fred Richmond, Allen Howe, Buz Lukens,
Barney Frank, Tom Evans, respectable senators Bob Packwood, Gary Hart,
    Ted Kennedy, Larry Graig, Arthur Brown, David Vitter, Brock Adams;
    mayors and governors (the governor of New Jersey) James McGreevey;
Neil Goldschmidt (the governor of Oregon); Jim West (the mayor of
Spokane, state of Washington); Eliot Spitzer (the governor of New
York); Rudy Giuliani (the mayor of New York); Paul Patton (the
    governor of Kentucky); Kwame Kilpatrick (the mayor of Detroit);
Chuck Robb (the governor of Virginia); Bob Wise (the governor of
    the Western Virginia); Gavin Newsom (the mayor of San Francisco);
Antonio Villaraigosa (the mayor of Los Angeles); Donald DiFrancesco
(the governor of New Jersey) were blamed and called to account for
immoral behaviour, including with under age girls and boys.

Getting acquainted with only some of those cases, you are surprised to
what extent is disgusting the character of some of US politicians. So,
a big scandal burst around Senator Larry Graig, who was exposed of sex
scandal at a men's room. Or, Neil Goldschmidt, governor of Oregon, was
exposed of sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl. Senator Brock
Adams was accused of sexual harassment and rape of eight women. Mayor
Jim West of Spokane was accused of luring two young men and so on.

This vice did not also avoid heads of the state, and even founding
fathers. Grover Cleveland - the 22nd and 24th US president, and also
Warren Harding - the 29th US president were exposed for numerous
extra-marital relations that ended with births of illegitimate
    children.

Founding fathers in the person of Thomas Jefferson and Alexander
Hamilton led the list. The ideologist and the head of Party of the
Federalists, the first United States Secretary of the Treasury,
Alexander Hamilton, was exposed in a long illegitimate extramarital
relationship with a woman whose husband blackmailed the respectable
founding father for a long time. Thomas Jefferson, the third US
president, the author of the Declaration of Independence, was in an
intimate relationship with a 17-year-old slave, who gave birth to
his child at a time when in the Constitution of the USA, of which he
is an author, written in capital letters about the right to "life,
    freedom and aspiration to happiness".

"And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free"John
VIII-XXXII - a phrase engraved on the floor at the entrance of the
    CIA headquarters in Langley

A graphic illustration of corruption and decline of the American
political model can serve an example of Amendment 907 to the Freedom
Support Act of 1992 imposing sanction on Azerbaijan, as on the party,
allegedly, guilty of the aggression against Armenia. Today the US
foreign policy has become a hostage to "double standards" and defects
    of own political system.

Over the recent several months the administration of Barack Obama has
appeared incapable of having endorsed the candidacy of Matthew Bryza as
ambassador to Azerbaijan by the Congress. Senators like Barbara Boxer
and Robert Menendez, sponsored by the Armenian lobby, are blocking
Bryza's appointment to this post in every possible way. Thus, the
activities of the group, financed by the Armenian lobby, are blocking
the realization of foreign policy of the US administration.

Thus, the State Department and President Obama silently tolerate it,
neglecting the point in question. The presidential administration
and US State Department are powerless before actions of the Armenian
lobby, reducing interests of America to the necessity of taking into
account ambitious requirements of the Armenian Diaspora in California
and some other states. The annual initiation of a campaign for the
recognition of the so-called "genocide of Armenians" by the Armenian
Diaspora in the Ottoman empire can serve as a graphic example. Thus,
the US foreign policy becomes a hostage to the Armenian provocation.

Following the tastes of the paid interest groups, using a card of "the
Armenian electorate" and actually retreating under pressure from them,
the supreme political leadership of the USA shows political incapacity.

The impression is that the foreign policy conception of this superpower
is not drawn in the Oval Office and the State Department, but at the
office of Kirk Kerkorian, or in a bedroom of Kim Kardashian, forming
a new vision of the foreign policy concept of the USA which, as Noam
Chomsky said, reduces to a conception of "insolvent states". Facts
testify that the State Department lacks the vision of development
of processes in various regions. For example, during the so-called
Armenian-Turkish rapprochement, US Assistant Secretary of State Philip
Gordon time and again repeated at the official level the absence of
interrelation between the Karabakh settlement and the opening of the
Armenian-Turkish border. Whereas, the reality has shown the contrary.

The short-sightedness of the US policy in the South Caucasus is another
testimony of the depth of systematic decline of America. Today the USA
reminds a society decaying on all vital aspects. Such moral categories
as justice, decency, high morals etc. are becoming anachronisms for
rulers of destinies of hundreds of millions of people. The United
States of America, actually ignoring the territorial integrity of
Azerbaijan, is ready to defend interests of other South Caucasus state
    - Georgia, thus without paying attention that Armenians as well have
territorial claims to this country. State Secretary Hillary Clinton at
the earliest opportunity reminds her partner in the "reset" button -
Russia that the US will never accept the partition of Georgia and
    never recognizes the status quo.

Other US nurtured regional state - Armenia is actively selling
weapons to the country and forces whom official Washington labelled
as "axis of evil". Thus, not only high-pitched tone is used against
Armenia, but financial and social aid is constantly increased for
the aggressor country. We wonder for what reason does the US shut
eyes to aggressive separatism, the creation of "grey zones" and drug
trafficking in Nagornyy Karabakh by allocation of annual financial
aid? Hypocrisy of the American policy is also manifested in facts that
politicians say one thing on mutual relations between the USA-Georgia,
the USA-Azerbaijan and the USA-Armenia, but in practice act absolutely
    vice versa.

In spite of the fact that Azerbaijan is carrying out all obligations
within the limits of struggle against international terrorism,
the establishment of peace and stability in separate regions of the
planet and also contributes to Europe's energy security, the policy of
the USA on Azerbaijan is of selective and subjective nature. Such an
expression as the "strategic partnership" acquires insincere and empty
form on lips of US officials. What is the reason for such sympathies
in one case, and negligence in other? The answer is obvious - in
"double standards", applied by the US to everything that surrounds it.

Considering that the "cold war" is over, the US continues to strain
the situation through pressure on states of whose intensive and
independent development does not suit it. Aspiring to creation of
states "in its image and likeness" which could subsequently be used
as a base for the further advancement of the American interests,
the USA does not accept independent positions of states with own
opinion and other way of development.

In this plan, an example of Ukraine is a model. Within the first year
of presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, the country, which during the
"orange" government always received high ratings in the sphere of
political and economic freedoms, all of sudden has appeared on the
"black list" of Washington. It is obvious that for "rebellious", the
USA has a special arsenal of pressure. Unlike other empires, which,
as the world history shows, used diversified political arsenal to
put pressure on unfriendly states, the United States bring "human
rights and freedom of speech", into play, using scenarios prepared by
    "respectable puppeteer" George Soros.

If the USA is really interested in close political cooperation with
Azerbaijan which, judging by assurances of the president and the
state secretary, is one of the most important partners of America,
why has it done a little up until now for a fair and prompt solution
of the Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagornyy Karabakh conflict?

There has shaped a firm belief in society that words of the US
administration are running completely against its deeds with regard
to Azerbaijan. Therefore, statements of the USA on the necessity of
intensification of cooperation in all areas look, at least, insincere.

During his address to the UN General Assembly in September 2010, Obama
underscored the US adherence to positions of the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights, guaranteeing respect, dignity and rights to each
person. Article 3 of the mentioned document states: "Everyone has the
right to life, liberty and security of person". However, drone attacks,
invasions and occupation of foreign countries, toppling unfriendly
regimes, all these are serious facts of violation of articles of
    the Declaration.

Moreover, last month, the United Nations Commission on Human Rights
(UNCHR) published the report containing 228 recommendations on how
America can rectify the situation with human rights. Article 5 of the
mentioned declaration states: "No one shall be subjected to torture
or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment." Every
prisoner and kidnapped person, subjected to tortures in Guantanamo,
Abu Ghraib or Bagram, - is another brazen violation of human rights.

The land of liberty - as the USA calls itself - is also the land
of prisoners. Here is the largest number of inmates in the world:
2.3m inmates are behind bars and over 3,000 are on death row.

At the same time, attempts of the American justice to arrest the
founder of Internet resource WikiLeaks, who disclosed the essence of
the US politics with regard to partners and friendly states, testify
to what extend, official Washington observes the right to freedom
of speech. Article 25 of the Universal Declaration says: "Everyone
has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and
well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing,
housing and medical care." Under statistics, about 44m Americans live
in poverty, and even more citizens of the country have no access
to medical aid. The country has 15m official jobless people. Under
estimations, this year only, about 1m American families will lose
houses. The country, which most actively criticizes others for
infringements of human rights, is now being accused of infringement
of the Universal Declaration, which was drawn up by the USA. And
American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson described it best of all: "What
you do speak so loud that I cannot hear what you say." Obviously,
the president of the USA is not any more indisputable world leader
this is a fact. The USA, like the Soviets, will not collapse all of a
sudden; however, the ability of the US to introduce a little control
to the world order is gradually becoming a thing of the past. Days of
the dollar as a global reserve currency, most likely, are numbered,
and the diplomacy is facing a danger of leak provoked by WikiLeaks.

Most likely, the period of individual hegemony and military power of
the USA seems come to an end, too. Apparently, the bi-polar world
is taking shape - without the influence of a single economic and
political force. Under the new world order, the USA will gradually
lose control over the global agenda, in which, first of all, regional
problems and conflicts will come to the foreground. The experience
of Iran, Nagornyy Karabakh, Abkhazia and North Korea visually shows
that America is incapable of realizing peculiarities of each conflict
separately, or does not wish to operate properly.

Under the new world order, regional actors will have more possibilities
to manoeuvre between major players, defending their own interests,
and superpowers, though they wish this or not, will have to adapt
themselves to new requirements of time. Obviously, the USA should
reconsider domestic political system so that the approval of any
decision to proceed from national interests of the state, instead of
desires and expectations of paid groups and their sponsors, defending
interests of one third of their states or the organizations.

Renowned economist Prof Jeffrey D. Sachs of the Colombian University
is absolutely right when he writes that conflicts among politicians
"over public morality and national strategy come down to questions of
money. The problem is America's corrupted politics and loss of civic
morality. The level of political corruption in America is staggering.

Everything is now about money to run electoral campaigns, which have
become incredibly expensive. The mid-term elections cost an estimated
4.5bn dollars. Obama swept to power on the promise of change. So far
there has been none." (Project Syndicate - 27 December 2010)

This is a real face of the modern United States of America. Obviously,
there is nothing more to say. In this case, there emerges quite a
natural question: being snowed under defects; does the USA have a
moral right to teach others on "how is it necessary to live and build
    a democratic society?"
