The first Sukhoi SuperJet 100 (SSJ-100)will be soon delivered to
Armenian Armavia airlines, a senior Russian official said Wednesday.

Sergei Ivashkin, transport minister of the Russian Far Eastern
Khabarovsk Region, said the first SSJ-100 aircraft would be delivered
to Armavia airlines in February after some tests, adding that 64 test
    flights have already been conducted.

The SSJ-100 is a 100-seat medium-haul passenger aircraft developed by
Sukhoi SuperJet International in cooperation with U.S. and European
aviation firms including Boeing, Snecma, Thales, Messier Dowty,
    Liebherr Aerospace and Honeywell.

Ivashkin said the company has received orders for 170 such planes,
adding that Russian flag carrier Aeroflot alone has ordered for 40
    such planes.

The SSJ-l00 is manufactured by Pearl Aircraft Corporation, a joint
venture between Sukhoi SuperJet International and the U.S. and European
    aircraft firms.

Jan Soderberg, chief executive officer of Pearl Aircraft Corporation,
said the SSJ-100 is the best 100-seat passenger plane.

"Its superior economics outclass all its competitors," he said. "Its
low costs and superb payload-range performance will open new market
opportunities for our customers, allowing them to serve routes
    previously not considered viable."
