ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT APPROVES AMENDMENTS TO LAW ON TEMPORARY DISABILITY

The Armenian Parliament has approved in the first reading the draft
amendments to the Law on Temporary Disability. The draft deals with
maternity pays.
According to the draft, maternity pays will be calculated on the
basis of the highest average monthly salary, without any deductions
for weekends and holidays. Under the draft, the average monthly salary
is to be calculated on the basis of the salary for the last 12 months,
irrespective of whether the employer has or has not been changed.
However, if before taking her maternity leave, a woman has not worked
for the last 12 months her maternity pay is to be reduced.
