YEREVAN, MARCH 14, ARMENPRESS: At a meeting with reporters in
Azerbaijan, Audronius Ažubalis - OSCE chairperson-in-office,
Lithuanian foreign minister - once again stressed the necessity of
withdrawing the snipers from the contact line. He added that each loss
of human life causes a tragedy. Both Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh
Republic have been speaking out for OSCE's proposal for many times,
however these two Armenian states, as well as the OSCE have been
facing a negative response by Azerbaijan.

Earlier, in an interview with Armenpress, RA Defense Ministry Spokesman
David Karapetyan stated that Armenia has repeatedly stressed the
necessity and given its consent to the OSCE's calls to withdraw the
snipers from borders front line. "Instead, Azerbaijan has always
acted against the proposal, moreover, provoked activeness by snipers
in border front line," David Karapetyan said Ažubalis also stressed
that the purpose of his visit to Azerbaijan, then to Armenia is to
get acquainted with the opinions, positions and results of the recent
meeting of the presidents in Sochi.

The OSCE chairperson-in-office called on Azerbaijan to ensure
the democratic freedoms. "Azerbaijan needs to ensure progress in
democracy in order to become a close partner of Europe," he said
during a meeting with leaders of Azerbaijani political parties. The
OSCE chairperson-in-office noted that it is necessary to ensure in
Azerbaijan pluralism and freedoms of press, speech and gatherings.

"Free and fair elections are the basis of democracy, however the
recent parliamentary elections showed that the democracy in this area
should be developed significantly," he stated. Audronius Ažubalis,
OSCE chairperson-in-office, Lithuanian foreign minister, will arrive
    in Yerevan March 17.
