YEREVAN. - Armenian authorities do not intend to give up their energy
programs. The situation at Japan's nuclear power plant will not affect
Armenia's energy policy, Chairman of the State Nuclear Regulatory
Commission Ashot Martirosyan told reporters on Wednesday.

"The program aims at building a new nuclear unit of the Armenian
    nuclear station," Martirosyan noted.

The construction of a new power unit that will cost over $4bn is
    planned to start in 2012.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, on April 27-28, Armenia
will host an international conference on construction of a new nuclear
power unit. The conference aims to discuss and determine the sources
    of investments.
