Armenia's communists to celebrate May 1

    11:46 - 01.05.11

Armenia's Communist Party is holding a march and then a rally on the
occasion of International Workers' Day, a representative of the party
    has said.

Speaking to Tert.am, Ruben Tovmasyan, the Secretary of the Central
Committee of the party said that the party members will assembly near
the statute of famous Armenian artist Martiros Saryan in central
    Yerevan.

Afterwards, they will start a march via Mashtots Avenue, Amiryan
Street and at around 1 pm they will gather near the statue of Stepan
Shahumyan and hold the rally there.

`We are expecting to have various groups from regions, around 60
pioneers from Etchmiadzin, Masis, Talin and Hrazdan. And as usual our
veterans will be the inseparable part of our march,' said Tovmasyan.

According to him, party member will deliver speeches to what he called
    `disgrace the authorities'.

`We will not hold a sit-in; all the people are in someway in a sit-in
situation,' he said, adding that rally will probably end at 2 pm.

May 1 was first celebrated as workers' day in Paris 122 years ago. Now
it is celebrated worldwide as the International Workers' Day.
