SAVE THE CHILDREN: MANHANDLING IS THE MOST DISSEMINATED TYPE OF VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN IN ARMENIA

"In the majority of cases parents and teachers do not understand that
even a simple box on the ear is violence. Unfortunately, according to
the statistical data, violence id applied in all the age categories up
to 18, while psychological violence prevails in the teenagers group",
representative of international organization Save the Children, leader
of the programme "Let's unite for the love of children, let's save
future", Anna Harutyunyan, said today at the presentation ceremony
of the programme.
For his part, Head of the Delegation of European Commission in Armenia
Raul de Luzenberger said the European Commission is ready to assist the
programmes on enhancing civil society and establishment of democracy
in Armenia.
He also added that the problems of children protection have been
declared priority in Armenia this year and the Delegation of the
European Commission is trying to support development of this sphere
within the frames of the programmes financed by the EC.
