    ARMENIA ACHIEVES PROGRESS IN COMBATING TRAFFICKING - US DEPUTY ASSISTANT SECRETARY

    YEREVAN. - A progress in combating trafficking has been achieved in
    Armenia and it is reflected in the report by the U.S. State Department,
    Thomas Melia, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Democracy, Human
    Rights and Labor, stated at the meeting with Armenia's Minister of
    Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan.

    The U.S. diplomat's activities aim to control preparations for the
    report on human rights by the U.S. State Department.

    Armen Gevorgyan thanked the U.S. Embassy and the former Ambassador
    Marie L. Yovanovitch, who contributed to the progress in combating
    trafficking, the territorial administration ministry informed Armenian
    News-NEWS.am.

    The minister also discussed international cooperation and stressed
    that work is underway within the OSCE, UN and Council of Europe.

    The sides also touched upon fulfillment of commitments by the local
    governments and referred to the issues on protection of the rights
    of religious minorities
