ARMENIAN ISSUE IS NOW FAR LESS SIGNIFICANT TO TURKEY: PUNDIT

Political analyst Richard Kirakosian spoke of the Turkish elections
    at a news conference today.

"We found new political moods in Turkey. This was the second election
won by the Justice and Development party, which has been ruling for
8.5 years now - since 2002," Kirakosian said. "This means the Turkish
    government is more self-confident now."

He said the importance of the past election was that the ruling party
could not manage to get two-thirds in parliament, garnering only about
50 percent. What's more interesting, he said, was that the opposition
gained 23 seats with the Kurdish candidates securing 36 seats.

"For Turkey, this first of all means that new priorities are emerging,
such as Syria, Libya, relations with Israel; the Armenian issue,
however, becomes of less far significance now," he said.
