AZERIS TO ATTACK ON ECOLOGY FRONT
On April 11-22, the 13th New York session of UN Commission on
Sustainable Development discussed issues concerning water resources,
particularly preserving drinking water. Minister of ecology of Armenia,
For Mankind's Sustainable Development and Armenian Women for Healthy
Environment NGOs represented Armenia at the session. Azerbaijan availed
itself the opportunity to make an assault on the ecology front as well.
The Azerbaijani delegation condemned Armenia for how it manages water
supplies in occupied territories. They stated that there are occupied
territories in the Caucasus that are out of control and developments
in those areas are damaging to ecology. They appealed to the alertness
of the international community and urged to prevent ecologic disaster
that may threaten whole Caucasus.
In his reply to Azeri side's condemnations, RA ecology minister said
that there should be cooperation in the sphere of ecology regardless
political discords.
