SUGAR PRICE UP IN ARMENIA

Talking to Tert.am, Samvel Aleksanyan, an Armenian MP and major
importer of sugar, explained the reasons for the recent rise in sugar
prices in Armenia.
The sugar price has shown an AMD 100 (about $0.27) rise in Yerevan's
supermarkets - AMD 350 to AMD 450 per kilo.
"Sugar has risen in price throughout the world," he said. The sugar
price has to date remained unchanged due to the previous purchases at
lower prices. "Now, however, we have imported sugar at higher prices
and we have to sell it at higher prices," Aleksanyan said.
The Aleks Grig Company owned by Aleksanyan is dominating Armenia's
sugar market.
