    "EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS" TO LAUNCH TOMORROW

    About 50 countries, which have joined the European Cultural
    Convention, will participate this year already for 26th time in
    "European Heritage Days" program implemented by the Council of Europe
    and European Commission.

    With the support of the Armenian Culture Ministry and delegation of
    the European Union in Armenia, Armenia will joint hat program for the
    6th time October 1-2. The program will be conducted in Armenia under
    the heading "Written Heritage". The choice of the theme is conditioned
    by 500th anniversary of Armenian book printing and proclamation of
    Yerevan a World Book Capital 2012.

    Armenian Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelyan told today a news
    conference that cultural events will be organized in the entire
    territory of Armenia. "The events program includes visits to the
    monuments and sites where educational and cultural centers, medieval
    libraries and universities have been historical formed and worked,"
    Arev Samuelyan said, adding that at the threshold of two important
    events for Armenia, "European Heritage Days" is the best platform
    to value the sources of the Armenian written heritage, to stress the
    role and significance of the written speech.

    Head of the EU delegation in Armenia Raul De Luzenberger said that the
    goal of the initiative is to open in front of society such cultural
    centers, the doors of which are not usually open for visits. "During
    these days we will try to draw society's attention to the wealth of
    the historical heritage," he said.
