AZERBAIJAN BUILDS DEFENCE WALL ON FRONT-LINE TO PROTECT RESIDENTS

    Ekho, Azerbaijan
    Oct 12 2011

A three-meter high stone wall is being built on the front-line by the
government. The purpose of the wall is to defend residents from bullets
of the opposite side. The construction work started in Ortaqarvand
village of Aqdam District where eight-year-old Fariz Badalov was
killed seven months ago, ANS PRESS [news agency] reports.

The labour force involved in the construction are the residents of
the houses located along the front line.

Defence walls are also being built in Ciraqli village of Aqdam
[District] with a total length of 700 meters. According to the
chairman of the municipality [of Ciraqli village of Aqdam], Qabil
Abbasov, construction of the wall will not only ensure security of
the residents, but will also solve the problem of settlement in the
village. "Out of 78 houses in the village, 24 are empty. These houses
are not good for living. The houses have been destroyed by the enemy
bullets. Once the restoration agency completes the work, residents
will be able to go back to their homes."
