ARMENIA BELIEVES IN PEACEFUL REGIONAL COOPERATION - PRESIDENT

YEREVAN. - Armenia has for many times proved it productive position on
solving disagreements existing in the region, Armenian President Serzh
Sargsyan said in the interview with CSTO Allies journal responding to
the issue on the role of Armenia in supporting stability and ensuring
security in South Caucasus.
He added that the improvement of Armenia's Armed Forces plays crucial
role for regional security.
"It is proved by 17 years of ceasefire regime without the outside
interference. Thus, it is of great importance to ensure reasonable
balance of forces in the region," Sargsyan said.
According to him, current reforms serve to transform several
departments of the Armed Forces to meet international standards and
participate in international peacekeeping operations.
We believe in the potential of regional peace collaboration and
economic cooperation and are ready to support any initiative aimed
at reduction of tension and regain of trust between the nations of
the region, Sargsyan stressed.
