Azerbaijan understood after the military parade in Yerevan on September
21 that it has no chances to defeat Armenia and decided to stop its
military rhetoric and lay the blame for instability at the border on
the Armenian side, political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan told
a press conference today. The initiative of building a wall at the
line of contact also fits into this framework, he said.
According to him, even the international organizations, which have
traditionally supported Azerbaijan, are tired of the latter's military
rhetoric.
The political scientist considers that in case Valdimir Putin comes
to power, Russia will stop pressuring the parties to the Karabakh
conflict to find a rapid solution to the issue.
According to him, Russia has enough problems with Ukraine and
Afghanistan, and France will take over the mediating role in the
Karabakh issue.
