ABOUT 235 MILLION DRAMS REQUIRED FOR RECONSTRUCTION AND CLEANUP OF LAKE IN ARTASHAT

YEREVAN , October 17. /ARKA /. About 235 million drams are required
for the reconstruction and cleanup of a lake in the town of Artashat
in Ararat region, provincial governor Edward Barseghyan said Saturday.
The lake was built in 1971 and once was the town~Rs hallmark, having
turned now into a swamp.
Barseghyan said during a visit to the town on July 6 president Serzh
Sargsyan gave appropriate instructions to the authorities of the city,
to start preparatory work to restore the lake.
During a visit to the town last Saturday on the occasion of its 2200th
anniversary the president was told about the status of preparatory
work.
Sargsyan said the amount of funds needed to resolve this environmental
problem was determined as a result of a research made by Armvodoproekt
institute.
The president was told that the required funding is secured and the
preparatory work for the restoration of the lake will be completed
in a timely manner.
Barseghian said that the president also instructed to start the
construction of a kindergarten in the village of Ayntap in Ararat
region.
According to the governor, 200 million drams were released for this
purpose.
