The State Food Security Service has launched inspections in several
    dairy companies in Armenia.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Babken Pipoyan, a spokesperson
for the Service, said some of the companies - Ashtarak-kat, Ani,
Tamara - have been already fined for violations.

Each of them is to pay 200,000 drams (about $500).

According to Pipoyan, Ani was found in breach of document
irregularities. As for Tamara, he said the company had used milk
    powder in its buttermilk.

Pipoyan particularly focused on the recently observed violations
    in Armfood.

"The Agriculture Ministry's State Food Security Service conudcted
inspections in Armfood company between November 5-15. After observing
irregularities, it issued a suspension order, and the factory closed
down," he said, adding that a consumer's notice had caused them to
    launch inspections.

He said the company's documents contained inaccuracies as to production
and expiry dates, while some products were not certified at all.

"We deal with food security; that's why we made Armfood's name public,"
    he added.
