YEREVAN. - Armenia's Special Investigation Service opened a criminal
case in connection with the embezzlement of the large amount of money
that was discovered while searching Italian citizen Antonio Cave,
who was apprehended and taken to capital city Yerevan's Arabkir Police
Precinct, the Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Close to US$ 10,000, which were seized from the Italian, mysteriously
disappeared from the Arabkir Investigation Department.

The Police conducted an investigation in this regard, and, as a
result, it was found out that Cave was detained in October 14, 2011,
on suspicion of committing fraud. Also, AMD 1,460,000 (approx. $
3,615), $2,400, and ~@1,800 were found in his possession.

    A criminal case was opened.

But following the court ruling on March 6, 2012, it became apparent
at the courtroom that the aforesaid amount was missing from the
belongings confiscated from the Italian citizen.

So, the Special Investigation Service opened a criminal case, and
    the investigation is in progress.
