HIS HOLINESS KAREKIN II MEETS THE PREFECT OF THE CONGREGATION FOR THE ORIENTAL CHURCHES IN THE ROMAN CURIA

His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All
Armenians, received Leonardo Sandri, Cardinal of the Roman Catholic
Church, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches in the
Roman Curia.
His Holiness Karekin II welcomed the visit of the Cardinal to Armenia
and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, noting that the centuries-old
relations between the Armenian Apostolic and the Roman Catholic
Churches stand out for special warmth.
The Catholicos emphasized the importance of effective cooperation
between the Mother See and Vatican in the educational and social
spheres.
Speaking about the relations and cooperation between the two sister
churches, the Catholicos underlined that the Christian Church should be
united in maintaining the value system formed as a result of historic
developments, which will contribute to the successful implementation
of the Christian mission.
Cardinal Sandri, in turn, voiced hope that the brotherly relations
between the Armenian Apostolic and the Roman Catholic Churches would
further develop and strengthen. Prefect of the Congregation for the
Oriental Churches conveyed the greetings of Pope Benedict XVI to the
Catholicosof All Armenians.
