Presidential elections in Nagorno Karabakh are not just elections
for the Artsakh residents but another step toward the international
recognition of Nagorno Karabakh Republic, deputy speaker of Armenian
National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov, who is implementing observation
    mission in Karabakh, told Tert.am.

Sharmazanov said the Armenian parliamentary delegation was divided
into three groups to observe elections in three directions. "Our
group was in Martakert. As of the moment no extraordinary incident
took place, no technical flaws have been registered. Everything goes
on in accordance with democratic standards," he said.

Three candidates are participating in the presidential race in Karabakh
    - incumbent president Bako Sahakyan, NKR hero Vitaly Balasanyan
and pro-rector of the Artsakh branch of Agrarian university Arkady
    Soghomonyan.

Eduard Sharmazanov was observing the elections in Martakert together
with Khachatur Kokobelyan from Heritage faction, Armenian National
