NEW CANDLELIGHT VIGIL TO COMMEMORATE VAHE AVETYAN

The public initiative demanding a fair probe into the Harsnaqar
incident is organizing candlelight vigil outside the restaurant next
week to commemorate Vahe Avetyan, the military doctor who was beaten
to death by security guards earlier this summer.
The ceremony is scheduled on Tuesday, August 7.
The group calls for an active participation in the event, considering
it an important step towards combating permissiveness.
"We call on you to respect Vahe Avetyan's memory and to demand
accountability for the culprits, as well as join the movement
condemning and denouncing the criminal-oligarchic regime's anti-culture
of violence," they say in a statement.
Vahe Avetyan was beaten severely together with two other military
doctors on June 17. He died in Hospital on June 30, without coming
to consciousness.
