Armenian Ambassador to Georgia advises Armenian tourists - interview

TBILISI. - Armenian News-NEWS.am presents the interview of the
Armenian Ambassador to Georgia Hovhannes Manukyan. Recently several
accidents were registered in Georgia were Armenian citizens suffered
or appeared in a difficult situation, how could you comment on this?
Georgia is an important neighbor and one of the main points for
transit, vacation and tourism for the Armenian citizens. The Armenians
are actively getting used of holiday homes and resorts in Georgia, as
a matter of fact over 400,000 Armenians crossed the Georgian border
over the last seven months. In addition, it is necessary to take into
account the natural-climatic, territorial and other circumstances,
while planning vacation in Georgia. What would you advice to our
citizens while getting prepared for the visit? It is necessary to plan
beforehand and by all means to define certain points for having a rest
during the journey. At the same time, it is better to get to know with
the country prior to the journey, and to take necessary objects
ensuring one's security as well as consider the first medical aid. How
did the Armenian Embassy and personally you respond to the accidents?
Regarding the recent accidents, the Armenian Embassy in Georgia is in
constant contact with the corresponding department at the Georgian
MFA, as well as the Armenian Consulate General in Batumi. As is known,
an Armenian citizen was hospitalized with gunshots, and later crossed
the Georgian-Armenian border in the ambulance on Aug. 8. A criminal
case was instigated and the Embassy follows the process. The very next
day an alarm was received that an Armenian alpinist climbed the Mount
Ushba and cannot get down due to the lack of equipment. As a result,
necessary means were taken and the alpinist was back to Armenia. In
another case, four Armenians were engaged in an accident in
Yerevan-Kobuleti road on Aug. 18. I personally contacted local
authorities and medical service employees. As a result, the injured
were given the aid and the after-operation assistance was provided for
the child and the woman. What would you like to add? The Embassy once
again calls our compatriots to care for the personal security as much
as possible to avoid unpleasant situations and incidents.
