    Israeli Consul: `No `coldness' in Armenia-Israel relations'

Yerevan/Mediamax/. The Consul of Israel for the South Caucasus Ron
Shekhter said in Yerevan today that the absence of the Israeli
diplomatic representation in Yerevan doesn't mean that there is
    "coldness' in Armenian-Israeli relations.

Addressing a press conference in Yerevan today, Ron Shekhter said that
the relations between Armenia and Israel are `warm and friendly'.

The head of the Jewish Community of Armenia, Rimma Varzhapetyan, said
in turn that she constantly raises the issue of opening an Embassy of
Israel in Armenia at various levels.

`They tell me in Israel that Israel will open a diplomatic
representation in Yerevan when Armenia decides to open en embassy in
    Israel.

In an exclusive interview to Mediamax earlier this year, Deputy
Foreign Minister of Israel Danny Ayalon said in this regard:

`Apparently Armenia prefers to see first and foremost the
establishment of a permanent Israeli embassy in Yerevan. As I see it,
I would reverse the order, in other words strengthening the relations
between each other will lead to greater interaction and will in turn
create the need to establish a permanent embassy. The joint work today
of non-resident ambassadors from each country would result in the need
to establish permanent embassies in both countries.'
